Janet Blackwell is a self taught pastel artist who has created over 100 pieces in her short three year career. Janet's artistic talent was released after retiring from a career of working children with autism. Janet's Aunt is a successful artist and told her she could become an artist once her son was grown. Her aunts words were prophetic. Janet feels that creating art is the expression of the artist's soul. When the art is viewed it is a beautiful communication between souls. Janet uses Sennelier pastel so as to use the medium that Picasso helped develop. Janet has been influenced by Picasso, Matisse and Van Gogh. She produces abstract impressionistic work and most enjoys creating portraits of family and friends. Janet's work has been on display for one year at the "Canvas Pontiac" outdoor art exhibit. Janet has also won merit awards with the "Light, Space and Time" Online Gallery. Janet was also a participant in the ArtPrize9 Exhibition in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Janet's piece “Pamela”was selected for The Collectors Show 2017 Grand Rapids, MI.
